Zahara Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority during her sophomore year at Spelman College. In a video shared on Essence's Instagram, Zahara can be seen displaying her dance moves and introducing herself to her sorority sisters. Although it's unclear if her parents were present at the ceremony, Angelina has been actively involved in her daughter's college life, including helping Zahara move in last August.
Zahara joined the Mu Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first historically black sorority in the Greek system. In the video, she appeared to drop her father's last name when reciting her name to onlookers. Dressed in a black midi dress and gloves, Zahara blended in with her sorority sisters.
The Mu Pi Chapter was founded in 1979 at Spelman College, which has a long-standing tradition of empowering black women. Angelina Jolie surprised fans last year by joining Zahara for move-in day. Despite a contentious custody battle between Angelina and Brad Pitt, the latter expressed his pride in Zahara's accomplishments and education.
Recently, Brad Pitt introduced Ines de Ramon as his girlfriend, indicating a significant step forward in their relationship. Brad and Angelina split seven years ago but have been embroiled in ongoing disputes over custody and financial matters.
Zahara is one of six children shared by the former celebrity couple, along with Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
Zahara's enrollment in Alpha Kappa Alpha is not only a testament to her commitment to sisterhood but also a celebration of her heritage and the rich traditions of historically black sororities in the United States.
