Doctors' Positive Language Boosts Weight Loss, Study Finds

A new study from Oxford University suggests that doctors should use positive language when discussing weight loss with their patients. According to the research, patients are more likely to lose weight if their doctors provide advice in an optimistic manner, focusing on the benefits of weight loss rather than the negative consequences of obesity. The study analyzed patient encounters at 38 doctor surgeries in England, involving 87 general practitioners discussing a free 12-week weight-loss program with their patients. The language used in these appointments was categorized as either 'good news', 'bad news', or 'neutral'.
