Peanut was initially named Mac N Cheese and was among a group of four pups abandoned outside an animal shelter. By the time of the Oscars broadcast, Peanut was the only one without a forever home.

After hearing the heartfelt story, Travolta held the lone pup for 30 minutes after the telecast and eventually decided to adopt her through Paw Works, a nonprofit rescue organization.
