An Icelandic town is on the brink of disaster as sinkholes continue to appear, tearing apart buildings and roads, while magma gathers just a few hundred meters beneath the surface. Matthew James Roberts, a director at the Icelandic Met Office, warns that if the eruption lasts long enough, "nature always wins." According to experts, even a low-intensity eruption could result in lava flow from fissures for weeks, potentially hitting the town of Grindavik. Due to the imminent risk, efforts are underway to urgently construct a massive defensive wall to protect the town and a nearby geothermal power plant from lava flows.
