Coldplay fans who were unable to attend the band's recent gigs in Perth, Western Australia, due to flight cancellations have been offered a generous solution. In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Coldplay announced that fans who had tickets for the Perth shows but were unable to make it because of two cancelled flights would receive free tickets to the band's 2024 Australian tour.
The affected fans were specifically those who had bookings on VA721 on Wednesday evening or VA474 on Thursday evening. To claim their free tickets for the 2024 Australian tour, fans were instructed to email [email protected] before 5 pm AEDT on November 28th.
Coldplay, who just finished their two sold-out shows at Optus Stadium in Perth, will be returning to Australia next year for their Music of the Spheres world tour. The tour will include performances at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on October 30 and 31, as well as Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 6 and 7, before heading to Auckland.
The band's Perth shows were highly anticipated, with 120,000 tickets selling out. It is estimated that the band will earn around £12 million (AUD $22 million) from these concerts. Coldplay promised fans a "spectacular show" filled with lasers, fireworks, and LED wristbands.
This gesture from Coldplay is a way to accommodate the fans who were unfortunately affected by the flight cancellations, ensuring that they still have an opportunity to experience the band's live performance. It demonstrates the band's commitment to their fans and their desire to make it up to those who experienced unforeseen travel disruptions.
The previous time Coldplay performed in Perth was in February 2009, making these recent shows a long-awaited return to the capital of Western Australia. The concerts were marked by the massive amount of food and drink required to accommodate the 120,000 attendees. Some notable items included nine tonnes of hot chips (or French fries), special Coldplay themed burgers, 500 kegs of beer, 35,000 cans of lager, and 50,000 cans of ginger beer.
The generosity and thoughtfulness of Coldplay's offer to provide free tickets to fans affected by flight cancellations is sure to be appreciated by those who missed the Perth shows. It showcases the band's dedication to their audience and their commitment to creating memorable experiences for their fans. With their upcoming Australian tour in 2024, the band's supporters will have another chance to witness their incredible live performances.
