Dana, a 25-year-old database administrator from Essex, became the sixth contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off during Botanical week. Despite her show-stopping design, her bakes fell short of the judges' expectations in terms of taste. As part of Botanical week, the bakers had to create bakes inspired by nature, including a spice-filled Signature, a herby Technical, and a floral dessert Showstopper.
Dana, who managed to reach the sixth week of the competition, took the elimination positively, saying, "Feel like I've smashed it week six, I'm just trying to think of all the fun I've had in the last six weeks." Meanwhile, Josh received the star baker award for his impressive bakes throughout all three challenges.
In this episode, Christine secured first place in the Technical challenge with her "perfect" lemon drizzle swirl cake. On the other hand, Tasha struggled and came last in the challenge, making her Showstopper challenge crucial for her chance to stay in the competition. Despite her cake disaster, Tasha managed to impress with a "delicious" showstopper, a ten-tier cake.
Dana's departure follows the previous eliminations of Amos and Keith in previous weeks, with Nicky and Rowan being the fourth and fifth contestants to leave in a double elimination. The Great British Bake Off continues to captivate viewers with its mix of talented bakers and diverse creations.
The show returns next week on Channel 4 at 8pm, where the remaining contestants will face new challenges and strive to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
